An-Nahj al-Asma Fii Sharh Asma Allahu al-Husna by Shaikh Muhammad an-Najdi.

The Noble Name of Allaah, Al-Mubeen, is mentioned once in the Noble Qur’an in Surat an-Noor (24:25):

“On that Day, Allaah will pay them the recompense of their deeds in full, and they will know that Allaah, He is the Manifest Truth.

The meaning of the Name:

Ibn Jarir (Rahimahullaah) said regarding Allaah’s statement, “and they will know that Allaah, He is the Manifest Truth,” that on that Day they would know that Allaah is the Truth Who will show them the realities of what He promised them of punishment they earned in the worldly life and will show the hypocrites all the doubts that they had about Him (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) and that what they used to dispute about.” [Jami’ul-Bayan]

Az-Zajjaj said, after mentioning the linguistic meaning of the Name, “Allaah, the Blessed, the Exalted, is the One Who shows the way to guidance for His slaves, Who shows them clearly the deeds that result in attaining His reward and that cause His punishment. He shows them what they should do and what they should abandon.” [Ishtiqaq al-Asmaa’]

Al-Haleemi said: “Al-Mubeen is the One Who is neither hidden nor concealed. Because He, Who is worthy of all praises, has actions which indicate and point to Him, which makes it impossible for Him to be hidden and not known.” [Al-Minhaaj]

Al-Asbahaani said: “Al-Mubeen is the One Who shows His Greatness, the One Whose Ruboobiyyah (Actions) and Dominion are manifest. It is also said that the meaning of Abaana is to show. Accordingly the meaning will be: He is the One Who shows His creation all what they need.” [Al-Hujjah fil-Mahajjah]

The Impact of Believing in this Noble Name

  1. Allaah, the Blessed, the Exalted, shows clearly His Greatness in His Uloohiyyah (Divinity) and Ruboobiyyah (Lordship). Nothing of His Divinity and Lordship is hidden from His creation, because He has set for them all the proofs, evidences and signs that point to Him (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala). Moreover, the evidences for His Oneness, Kingship and Lordship are even clearer than the shining sun in the middle of the day.
  2. He, the Exalted, is Al-Mubeen Who shows His creation all the means of salvation from His punishment, and the means of winning His Paradise and Pleasure:

(a) With what He has created the creation with a natural instinct to believe in His Oneness (Tawheed), as He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat ar-Room (30:30):

“Allaah’s Fitrah(1) with which He has created mankind. No change should there be in the creation of Allaah (i.e. let the people remain true to their Fitrah within the religion of Allaah) – Islamic Monotheism, that is the straight Religion, but most men know not.”

(b) With sending them Messengers (‘Alayhumussalam) and sending down Books.

Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat Ibraheem (14:4):

“And We did not send any Messenger except (speaking) in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allaah sends astray (thereby) whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the All-Wise.”

Also He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat al-Hadeed (57:25):

“We have already sent Our Messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that the people may maintain (their affairs) in justice.”

Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) has supported them with evidences and miracles that indicate their truthfulness and the truthfulness of their call.

Ibn al-Qayyim (Rahimahullaah) said: “Of the verses, signs, proofs, etc. is that Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) has supported them with evidences and miracles that indicate their truthfulness and the truthfulness of their (the Messengers) call.

Ibn al-Qayyim (Rahimahullaah) said: “Of the verses, signs, proofs, etc in the earth is what Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) decrees to happen every time in it that proves the truthfulness of what the Messengers are sent with. In order to set a plea for those who did not witness the era of the Messengers, such that the people of each century would witness what the earlier generations had witnessed or something similar to it, as Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat Fussilat (41:53):

“We will show them Our Signs in the universe and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth [or that He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) is the Truth].”

This is not particular to one century to the exclusion of another, rather, Allaah, indeed, shows the signs to the people of each century to indicate that He is Allaah, La ilaha illa-Allaah (none deserves to be worshipped except Him), and that His Messengers are truthful. The signs of the earth are many and greater than what is mentioned, but He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) warned with what is little and minor over the major and more.

3.     Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) called His Messenger Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) al-Mubeen as stated in Surat al-Araf (7:184):

“Then do they not give thought? There is no madness in their companion [i.e. Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)]. He is not but a clear (or plain) warner.”

In Surat al-Hijr (15:89), Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says:

“And say, ‘Indeed, I am the clear warner.'”

4.     Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) called His Book (i.e. the Qur’an) al-Mubeen in many verses.

Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat al-Ma’idah (5:15-16):

“Indeed, there has come to you from Allaah a light [i.e. Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)] and a plain Book (this Qur’an). Wherewith Allaah guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace and He brings them out of darkness by His Will into light and guides them to a Straight Way (Islamic Monotheism).”

He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) also says in Surat al-Hijr (15:1):

Alif, Lam, Raa. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur’an (i.e. recitation).”

In Surat ash-Shu’araa’ (26:192-195), Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says:

“And indeed, it (i.e. the Qur’an) is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. The Trustworthy Spirit (i.e. Gabriel ‘alayhissallam) has brought it down. Upon your heart, [O Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)] that you may be of the warners. In a clear Arabic language.”

Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) describes here that the verses are clear and plain as He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat al-‘Ankabut (29:49):

“Nay, but they, the clear Ayat (i.e. the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) written in the Torah and Gospel) are preserved in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge.”

And His statement in Surat al-Hadeed (57:9):

“It is He Who sends down manifest Ayat to His slave (Muhammad Salla-Allaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)  that He may bring you out from darkness into light.”

There, in the Qur’an, is the clear evident explanation (elucidation) for everything that humans need in their lives, in the best and most eloquent statement and style.

There in the Qur’an, a manifestation for everything from the beginning till the end, until the people of Paradise settle in their delight and people of Hell settle in their Hell.

Knowing Allaah by His Names and Attributes and knowing His due Rights and the obligations towards Him; also knowing the Islamic creed, the rulings concerning the acts of worship and transactions and all the social affairs and all what mankind needs in every time and place, the Resurrection, the Judgment, the Account, the Recompense and Punishment, etc. are all stated and shown clearly.

Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says in Surat al-An’am (6:38):

“We have neglected nothing in the Book.”

He (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) also says in Surat al-Israa’ (17:12):

“And We have explained everything (in detail) with full explanation.”

(1) The natural inborn inclination of man to worship his Creator prior to the corruption of his nature by external influences. Thus, Islamic Monotheism is described as the religion of the Fitrah – that of the inherent nature of mankind.
